A Father's Fight: A Personal Story of Loss, Lies, and Hope

Seven years ago, I met someone online. The relationship moved quickly, and before long we were building a life together. We moved from San Antonio to Round Rock, and with help from my father, purchased a home. I believed we were creating stability for our growing family.

The Trajectory Changes

Not long after we settled in, law enforcement became involved, following allegations made against me. That moment changed the trajectory of my life. What followed were years of court proceedings, investigations, and significant financial and personal loss.

Several charges have been dismissed. Others remain pending. The legal process is ongoing, and I am respecting that process while preparing my defense.

Days Blur, Sound Disappears

I have experienced extended pretrial detention, including prolonged periods of isolation. The psychological effects of isolation are difficult to articulate. Days blur together. Sound disappears. Time stretches. You become acutely aware of your own breathing in a way that changes you.

Time That Cannot Be Restored

The most difficult consequence has not been financial loss or reputational damage. It has been separation from my daughter. Years have passed without regular contact. Regardless of the legal outcome, that lost time cannot be restored.

Rebuilding in the Open

This experience has altered my health and my future. I am now focused on rebuilding through writing, public speaking, and documenting systemic issues surrounding pretrial detention. My goal is not to relitigate my case publicly, but to examine how prolonged detention and overlapping civil and criminal proceedings can permanently reshape a person’s life before a conviction ever occurs.

I continue to fight my case in court. I continue to hope for reconciliation with my daughter. And I continue to believe that transparency and accountability matter—for everyone involved.
